SKYRIM SPECIAL EDITION PATCH NOTES 1.4 FULL
Once I realized how quickly it was pouring in, I straight-up deleted everything I owned from both my character and my stash that wasn’t 229, and by the end of the day, both were already full again.įar and away, the best place to get loot in this new era of The Division is the Underground, from what I’ve seen. It’s almost disorienting how much loot you get. It’s like being starved for water in the desert only to wake up one day and find yourself drowning in the middle of the lake.

And, above it all, you can kill any random enemy on the street, and they will have some tiny chance to drop a max level item, just because. Hell, even getting intel for HVT missions gets you a 229 item. You can play Incursions, you can go to the Dark Zone, you can run HVT missions. You can get Underground caches, and Underground treasure chests at the end after you’ve killed Underground bosses. You can buy max level gear with any currency you own from any vendor. Every boss drops 2-3 items, every mission completion gives you an item, you can now earn additional XP to get a double-drop cache insanely often. You can’t go anywhere without max level loot dropping in your lap in World Tier 4. The Division has been famously stingy with loot since launch, but now, they’ve turned the dial to eleven and broken it off. “Be generous” was the Diablo 3-influenced refrain that fans kept shouting at Massive for months. Granted, my build wasn’t optimized in that short of a window, but I had a few max gear items from the last few times I played (thanks season pass supply drops), and once you get to World Tier 4, the game becomes a literal lootpocalypse. I went from I think 206 to 229 in maybe, two hours. Even if you start anywhere close, once you can even get a toehold in World Tier 4, being carried by a few other players in an activity here and there, 229 loot starts raining down from the skies. Again, this is a system that would have been great to have in place at launch, but now, World Tier 4 is essentially the end-all, be-all. I tried to play World Tier 3 to be safe, but I found it was impossible to matchmake for any activities, because apparently anyone who cares enough to show up for day one of this patch is going to be going straight for the gold in World Tier 4. This is still a fairly convoluted system, and it took me a while to understand what I was actually cut out for. But once you hit 207-ish, you will no longer find anything terribly useful in that tier, and World 4 is all that matters, as it contains the “true” endgame gear that all drops at 229.

The other three World Tiers would be great for someone who just hit level 30 and is trying to gradually coast their way up to 229 Gearscore. To put it plainly, you need to get yourself to World Tier 4 as soon as possible. And within these tiers, Normal, Hard, Challenging and Heroic difficulties also still exist.

The fourth and highest tier drops only the highest level of gear, which is now 229, but you only need to be in the low 200s to give it a shot. There are now “World Tiers” that recommend specific Gearscores and drop certain levels of loot. The difficulty modifiers can be a bit confusing too, as well. Your Gearscore has changed, and has probably been downgraded now that endgame gear only comes in four tiers, rather than eight or nine like it was before. This is not too little, as these changes are huge and necessary, but it almost certainly feels too late at this point, and barring any game-changing DLC that might be able to draw players back (there are still two DLCs coming, believe it or not), this feels more like a lesson learned for the design of the inevitable Division 2. As I explained yesterday, rolling this out in the busiest time of the year for gaming means that best case scenario, I will play this for two days until Titanfall 2 and Skyrim Special Edition come out Friday, and after that I’ll be buried in Call of Duty, Watch Dogs 2 and Dishonored 2. The problem is that this is more or less what the game should have been when players hit level 30 a week or two after launch, and I’m not sure how much impact it will have today.
SKYRIM SPECIAL EDITION PATCH NOTES 1.4 UPDATE
What it comes down to is this: Nearly every change made in this update is a good one, from tiny quality of life issues (weapon skins no longer take up inventory space!) to huge, sweeping changes to philosophy (enemies are no longer walking tanks with golden guns).
